Clint Ashley, Director
Ashley served as director of risk management and security at the Purvis facility before going to the CIC as director. He completed the Mississippi State Certified Public Managers Program in 2002. Ashley is a 2003 graduate of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and has been accepted into the Department of Mental Health’s FOCUS leadership development program. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of Mississippi and a Master’s degree in workforce training and development from the University of Southern Mississippi. Ashley is a member of the Mississippi Hospital Association, serves as vice-president of the Mental Health Association of the Pine Belt and is on the board of Friends of South Mississippi State Hospital. He also serves on several boards and committees at Seminary Baptist Church.
Wynona Winfield, Community Volunteer
Winfield was involved in the prototypical design and program planning for the Department of Mental Health’s first crisis intervention center in Corinth. She has been employed by the Department of Mental Health in management and administrative positions for more than 25 years, serving as communications director and assistant director at Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield and as personnel director at East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian. Winfield opened North Mississippi State Hospital in Tupelo in 1999 and South Mississippi State Hospital in Purvis in 2000. She retired from State survice in June 2011 after serving as director of the Purvis facility for more than 10 years.
Before serving with DMH, Winfield worked in both the private and public sectors in public relations and communications. She holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Arts from Mississippi College.
Donna Simmons, Public Relations Director
Simmons handles internal and external communications, serves as media liaison and coordinates community affairs and the Friends of SMSH volunteer program. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Journalism with an emphasis in public relations and an associates degree in Marketing and Management Technology from Jones County Junior College. She participates in the Mississippi Department of Mental Health’s Anti-Stigma Campaign and is a member of the Area Development Partnership, Friends of SMSH, the Pinebelt Chapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, and the Mississippi Hospital Association. Within the Mississippi Hospital Association, she is a member of the Public Relations and Marketing Society and the Society for Hospital Auxiliaries.
